Throughout this Unit in the Media course, we have learnt a lot about the different aspects of Camera skills and how to use many different types of equipment. We largely focused on the idea of videography / cinematography and how the cameras are used to make everything that we see online or in cinemas. We looked at many different aspects, we were taught how to use the DSLR cameras for both photo and video and the basics of how to use them correctly for video. We also learnt about the ways you use these cameras, including the different types of shots and different camera angles, where we also learnt how to achieve this and where it is best to use different shot types. After we learnt all of this, we had to put it to the test by recording and editing a short video using premier pro, where we were taught the basics of cutting, speeding up and other aspects. With this, we managed to get all the clips together, however we didn’t get the time we needed to edit it completely, especially when it was most of our first times with Premier. After this, we watched several different scenes, with all types of shots, and we were simply given a script to follow and create a short scene with, based on a thief. After we created our shot list, we went and shot this. Where we made an individual edit, which I think came out pretty good, matching well with the music that I used. We then got brought into the world of advertising, where we learnt about the ASA and the rules about advertising, we also learnt about media language and techniques that are used for all types of adverts, and how they are used to gain the attention of different audiences. After learning this, we were given a brief to work on our own Advert. I decided to focus on Coca-Cola and their Share A Coke campaign. This overall went really well in my opinion, and I believe I did pretty good in this aspect of the course, and I found it very enjoyable.
Evaluation Of Video Skills:
My Coke Campaign:

Within the process of creating this work, I focused on putting together the advert, using many different conventions and techniques. Techniques i used while filming include the use of different camera angles and the use of a wide aperture to capture dream like blurry backgrounds, which make the video more aesthetically pleasing to look at. I made sure to keep the technical skills going strong by using different panning techniques and following objects to create a more interesting look that might draw the attention of the view to the product. I also used many techniques and brought together conventions from my editing. For example, i used colour grading with colour theory in mind to make reds stand out because of how they can be used to draw attention directly to the product on the screen, and making people feel more connected to the product.
